Ian was sponsored and trained in Building Control Surveying in Kent before graduating with honours at the University of Westminster. Upon graduation Ian put his skills to the test by volunteering for 6 months refurbishing health clinics in East Africa. He then spent a further 6 years Project Managing with Skanska (Swedish company) and CSI (British company) based in Uganda. Projects included the EU backed Small Holders Tea Factory expansion, the Irish Embassy and 100km of road construction to the West of Uganda.

In 2001 Ian returned to the UK and in 2004 Ian formed Top 2 Bottom Surveying Services Ltd.

Since its inception, Ian has further enjoyed providing technical services to developers in Kenya and Uganda whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism to the UK construction industry.
